Every year, the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation makes available a series of financial grants to promote Italian language in the world and support the implementation of cultural exchanges between Italy and foreign countries.
In the case of Latvia, we are talking about four kinds of contributions:
- Grants for schools
- for the creation or continuation of Italian language courses through partial coverage of teachers’ salaries
- to cover part of the cost of educational trips and courses in Italy for students
- to allow the participation of teachers of Italian to training and refresher courses
- for the purchase of books and training materials
- Grants for universities
- for the creation or continuation of Italian language courses through the complete or partial coverage of teachers’ salaries
- to allow participations of teachers of Italian to training and refresher courses
- for the purchase of books and training materials
- Grants for translators or publishing houses for the translation from Italian into Latvian or Russian of literary or audiovisual works and their publication.
- Grants for study or research missions for researchers, teachers, experts and cultural operator – both Italians or Latvians.
Each of these grants is provided on annual basis by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy. The call for application for each grant type contains details, criteria, deadlines and indications for submitting applications.
