Procedure for requesting a grant for missions in Italy or Latvia for the January 1 – November 15, 2025 period.
Each year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy publishes a procedure for requesting grants for study and research missions in Italy and abroad. Below is the procedure for Latvia for 2025.
Who Can Apply for the Grant?
- Italian citizens or foreign residents in Italy for at least two years who have been invited by Latvian academic or cultural institutions to carry out a study or research period in Latvia between January 1 and November 15, 2025.
- Foreign citizens or Italians residing abroad who have been invited by Italian academic or cultural institutions to carry out a study or research period in Italy between January 1 and November 15, 2025.
What Does the Grant Cover?
The grant consists of a lump sum of: €250 per day for stays of up to 5 days; €50 per day from the 6th to the 10th day; a maximum value of €1,500 per mission.The grant will not be provided for stays beyond the 10th day. Only the days of actual study or research activities will be counted.
Grants are disbursed after the mission is completed. To receive the payment, the applicant must submit specific documents within ten days after the mission ends, including travel documents, a certificate of stay issued by the host institution, and a final report on the activity carried out.
Selection Criteria
Applications are reviewed in the order they are received, subject to available resources.
Only applications accompanied by an official invitation from an academic or cultural institution will be accepted.
Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria: the applicant’s academic and professional background; the potential medium and long-term impact of the mission on the development of cultural or scientific projects and partnerships between italian and foreign institutions; the prestige of the cultural institutions involved; a rotation principle among grant beneficiaries; geographical and thematic priorities set by the Directorate-General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy of the Italian Foreign Ministry; the existence of cultural programs and cultural cooperation agreements.
