The Embassy of Italy in Riga is organising several initiatives in collaboration with the Riga Technical University on the occasion of the Italian Design Day on March 9, 2023.
16:30 – Opening of the photo-exhibition “Light on Made in Italy”. The exhibition is a project of the Italian Foreign Ministry and the prestigious Italian magazine “Interni about Italian design and its main firms and brands.
17:15 – Public lecture by the architects Jacopo Costanzo, Gabriele Corbo e Michele Trebbi from the Italian architecture studio “WAR Warehouse of Architecture and Research”. The lecture – titled “The project as a ‘structure that aims at being another structure'” – will take place at RTU Center for Science and Innovation. WAR is a Rome-based architecture studio and independend research space. “Warehouse of Architecture and Research” is an architecture studio and independent research space based in Rome. It is currently teaching at the European Design Institute (IED) in Rome and serve as advisor of the American Academy in Rome. In 2020 they have been featured in the Platform magazine’s 50 Best Under 40 Italian Architects & Designers List.

The Italian Design Day will be celebrated everywhere in the world through the network of Italian Embassies, Consulates and Cultural Institutes. The initiative’s main theme this year is “The quality that lights up. The energy of design for the people and the environment”. The Italian Design Day is organised worldwide by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with “Fondazione ADI – Collezione Compasso d’Oro”, Associazione per il disegno industrial, Triennale Milano, Salone del Mobile Milano, Federlegno, ICE Italian Trade Agency.
