The exhibition “Fashion Panorama. The Italian New Wave” opens in Riga: it tells the story of contemporary Italian fashion through the eyes of ten new brands. The project – produced by the Italian Foreign Ministry and curated by Vogue Italia – is organised in Latvia by the Embassy of Italy and the Italian Trade Agency, in collaboration with the Riga Fashion Week. A new generation of Italian brands is reinterpreting traditional craftsmanship through innovative languages and production methods. In doing so, they are bringing to the table a whole new idea of what it means to be Italian designers.<\/p>\n

\u201cFashion Panorama – The Italian New Wave\u201d is a travelling exhibition that tells the story of contemporary Italian fashion through the vision of ten new brands, chosen for their unique outlook and creative approach. The project – promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy and curated by Vogue Italia – arrives in Riga as part of the programme of the fall edition of the Riga Fashion Week. The exhibition opens at the Ola Foundation complex (Og\u013cu iela 12a, Riga) on Friday 20^{th<\/sup> October 2023 and will be open for one month until 20^{th<\/sup> November. \u201cFashion is a fundamental element of the Italian creative identity. As such, it evolves and changes constantly. It reflects a country in a permanent pursuit of balance between tradition and evolution\u201d highlights Ambassador of Italy to Latvia, Alessandro Monti<\/strong>. \u201cWe are happy to present in Riga the work of these ten innovative brands: our goal is bringing to Latvia a contemporary image of what Italy is and how far Italian creativity can reach\u201d.<\/p>\n

“The leitmotif of this season’s Riga Fashion Week is Fashion is Art<\/em> – and this exhibition serves as a beautiful confirmation of that. It tells the story of how the remarkable legacy bestowed upon us by designers like Gianni Versace, Riccardo Tisci, and Valentino Garavani is transforming in the contemporary context and what shapes the industry will take in the future,” underlines Elena Strahova, President of the Riga Fashion Week<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The exhibition is organised in Riga by the Embassy of Italy<\/em> and the Italian Trade Agency<\/em> in collaboration with the Riga Fashion Week<\/em> and Ola Foundation<\/em> complex. The initiative is also part of the programme of this year\u2019s edition of the Italian Language Week in Latvia<\/em>, titled \u201cin\/sostenibile\u201d (\u201cun\/sustainable\u201d).<\/p>\n

The exhibition<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cFashion Panorama \u2013 The Italian New Wave\u201d aims at giving voice and visibility to a new generation of Italian designers, bringing their vision and work to the world through the diplomatic, consular and cultural \u2026 of Italy abroad.<\/p>\n

Ten designers \u2014 ACT No\u00b01, Gis\u00e8le, Cormio, lessico familiare, Magliano, Marco Rambaldi, Medea, Panconesi, Niccol\u00f2 Pasqualetti, and SSHEENA<\/strong> \u2014 were chosen to represent contemporary Italian fashion around the globe.<\/p>\n

While reinterpreting artisan tradition in an original way with innovative languages and methods, they have also been able to maintain a solid and integrated relationship with other cultural and creative industries of Italy as well as offering their original take on issues dear to contemporary society.<\/p>\n

Their work and creativity are revealed through a photo exhibit specially created for this project and repertory images accompanied by audio-visual content dedicated to the work of the 10 talents.<\/p>\n
