Find out about the new EES"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong data-start=\"90\" data-end=\"117\">Entry\/Exit System (EES)<\/strong> has been <strong data-start=\"127\" data-end=\"164\">operational since 12 October 2025<\/strong> and is being <strong data-start=\"178\" data-end=\"202\">gradually introduced<\/strong> at the EU\u2019s external borders, with <strong data-start=\"238\" data-end=\"287\">full implementation expected by 10 April 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"290\" data-end=\"602\">EES is an <strong data-start=\"300\" data-end=\"323\">automated IT system<\/strong> that registers non-EU nationals traveling for short stays each time they cross an external EU border. It records <strong data-start=\"437\" data-end=\"464\">travel document details<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"466\" data-end=\"484\">biometric data<\/strong> (fingerprints and facial image), and the <strong data-start=\"526\" data-end=\"562\">date and place of entry and exit<\/strong>, in line with EU data protection rules.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"604\" data-end=\"854\">The system replaces <strong data-start=\"624\" data-end=\"652\">manual passport stamping<\/strong>, helping to <strong data-start=\"665\" data-end=\"696\">prevent irregular migration<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"698\" data-end=\"722\">identify overstayers<\/strong>, and <strong data-start=\"728\" data-end=\"748\">enhance security<\/strong>, while enabling <strong data-start=\"765\" data-end=\"809\">faster and more convenient border checks<\/strong> through automated and self-service controls.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"856\" data-end=\"907\">The system is developed and managed by <strong data-start=\"895\" data-end=\"906\">eu-LISA<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eulisa.europa.eu\/\" data-extlink=\"\" aria-label=\"(link is external)\" data-focus-mouse=\"true\">European Union Agency for the Operational Management of Large-Scale IT Systems in the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice (eu-LISA)<\/a>\u00a0is responsible for developing and managing the system.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For more information visit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/travel-europe.europa.eu\/en\/ees\">https:\/\/travel-europe.europa.eu\/en\/ees<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Entry\/Exit System (EES) has been operational since 12 October 2025 and is being gradually introduced at the EU\u2019s external borders, with full implementation expected by 10 April 2026.
