{"id":5639,"date":"2026-05-27T11:43:54","date_gmt":"2026-05-27T08:43:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambriga.esteri.it\/?p=5639"},"modified":"2026-05-27T14:07:10","modified_gmt":"2026-05-27T11:07:10","slug":"exhibition-in-the-name-of-clay-50-years-of-italian-ceramic-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambriga.esteri.it\/en\/news\/dall_ambasciata\/2026\/05\/exhibition-in-the-name-of-clay-50-years-of-italian-ceramic-art\/","title":{"rendered":"Exhibition &#8220;In the Name of Clay: 50 Years of Italian Ceramic Art&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From 30th May to 23rd August 2026, the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design in Riga (Sk\u0101r\u0146u street 10) will host the exhibition <strong>&#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/lnmm.gov.lv\/en\/museum-of-decorative-arts-and-design\/exhibitions\/in-the-name-of-clay-50-years-of-italian-ceramic-art-584\">In the Name of Clay: 50 Years of Italian Ceramic Art<\/a>&#8220;,<\/strong> tracing the development of Italian contemporary ceramics from the post-war period to the present day.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time in Latvia, visitors will be able to discover a collection of artworks especially selected for Riga from the world-renowned\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.micfaenza.org\/\"><strong>International Museum of Ceramics<\/strong><\/a> (MIC) in Faenza. The museum was founded in 1908 and holds a collection of more than 60 000 objects, ranging from antiquity to the present day, including works by world-famous artists such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall, Fernand L\u00e9ger, Alberto Burri, and Lucio Fontana.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition at the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design is part of the Latvia Ceramics Biennale\u2019s interseason programme, and will also feature works by Latvian ceramic artists \u2013 award winners of the Faenza biennials \u2013 P\u0113teris Martinsons, Andris V\u0113zis and Juris Bergins.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In the Name of Clay\u201d is curated by Claudia Casali, Director of the MIC,\u00a0and by Aivars Baranovskis and Valentin Petjko from the <strong>Latvian Centre for Contemporary Ceramics<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition has been made possible with the support of the <strong>State Culture Capital Foundation of Latvia<\/strong> and the <strong>Embassy of Italy in Riga<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"From 30th May to 23rd August 2026, the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design in Riga (Sk\u0101r\u0146u street 10) will host the exhibition &#8220;In the Name of Clay: 50 Years of Italian Ceramic Art&#8220;, tracing the development of Italian contemporary ceramics from the post-war period to the present day.
