{"id":2001,"date":"2024-02-12T16:25:30","date_gmt":"2024-02-12T13:25:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambriga.esteri.it\/?p=2001"},"modified":"2024-02-12T16:26:25","modified_gmt":"2024-02-12T13:26:25","slug":"foreign-minister-tajani-on-the-foibe-remembrance-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambriga.esteri.it\/en\/news\/dall_ambasciata\/2024\/02\/foreign-minister-tajani-on-the-foibe-remembrance-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Foreign Minister Tajani on the Foibe Remembrance Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, participated, on Friday and Saturday, in the main events dedicated to the Remembrance Day, in commemoration of the victims of the foibe\u00a0and of the Istrian, Fiuman and Dalmatian exodus.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Foreign Ministry and the entire diplomatic-consular network, as well as the Italian Cultural Institutes participated in the celebrations with the aim of keeping the memory of the tragedy alive in the world.<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy Prime Minister spoke at the commemoration ceremony organised on 9 February 2024 at the\u00a0<em>Quirinale<\/em>\u00a0Palace, in the presence of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella. Minister Tajani opened his speech \u2013 available at this<a href=\"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/en\/sala_stampa\/archivionotizie\/approfondimenti\/2024\/02\/partecipazione-del-ministro-antonio-tajani-alle-celebrazioni-per-il-giorno-del-ricordo\/\">\u00a0link\u00a0<\/a>\u2013 by stressing that \u201con the Remembrance Day, we are in ideal recollection in front of every\u00a0<em>foiba<\/em>, every memorial stone or monument. In front of the many simple wooden crosses on the red soil of Istria that mark the places where there are the open wounds in the ground that swallowed thousands of unfortunate people, in what is one of the darkest pages in the history of our country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On 10 February, the Deputy Prime Minister \u2013 together with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni \u2013 also went to the memorial of the\u00a0<em>Foiba of Basovizza<\/em>\u00a0to honour the memory of the victims of the\u00a0<em>foibe\u00a0<\/em>and the exiles of Istria, Fiume and Dalmatia.
