Study\/Internship Visa<\/h2>\n
To apply for a visa, it is necessary to book an appointment through the Prenot@mi<\/strong><\/a> system.<\/p>\n
How to Apply for a Study\/Internship Visa<\/strong><\/p>\n
Applications must be submitted at least 15 days before<\/strong> the travel date and no more than 6 months in advance<\/strong>. Processing of type D study visa applications may take up to 90 days<\/strong>. To ensure a smooth and timely procedure, applicants are advised to submit a complete application<\/strong>. Incomplete applications may be rejected or result in longer processing times.<\/p>\n

Study Visa for Italy (Type D)<\/h2>\n
Requirements and Submission Procedure<\/strong><\/p>\n
To apply for a study visa at the Italian Embassy in Riga<\/strong>, you must legally reside in Latvia<\/strong>, holding a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP)<\/strong> or a valid Latvian long-stay<\/strong> visa.
\nThe Embassy does not assist<\/strong> with documentation preparation and does not legalize<\/strong> or apostille educational documents issued outside Latvia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
Preliminary Steps<\/strong><\/p>\n
Before submitting your visa application, you must:<\/p>\n
\n
Complete the pre-enrollment process<\/strong> on the Universitaly platform<\/a>;<\/li>\n
Wait for the admission confirmation<\/strong> from the Italian university, as displayed in the Universitaly database.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Only after receiving this confirmation may you proceed with the visa application.<\/p>\n
Required Documents (Compulsory)<\/strong><\/p>\n
\n
National visa application form (Type D)<\/strong><\/a>, fully completed and signed, including contact details of your academic reference in Italy.<\/li>\n
Passport:\n
\n
Valid for at least 3 months beyond<\/strong> the requested visa duration;<\/li>\n
Issued within the last 10 years;<\/li>\n
With at least 2 blank pages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
Valid Latvian residence permit (TRP) or a valid long-stay<\/strong> visa.<\/li>\n
Recent passport-sized photo (ICAO-compliant).<\/li>\n
Admission letter from the Italian university\/institution or scholarship confirmation.<\/li>\n
Health insurance valid in Italy, covering the entire stay, with a detailed list of included services<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
Travel reservation (flight\/train\/bus) indicating intended entry into Italy.<\/li>\n
Proof of accommodation in Italy:\n
\n
University residence contract;<\/li>\n
Registered rental agreement;<\/li>\n
Hotel reservation for the initial period;<\/li>\n
Declaration of hospitality with a copy of the host\u2019s ID bearing a visible signature.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
Proof of financial means:\n
\n
Recent original bank statement (stamped and signed by the bank);<\/li>\n
Proof of at least \u20ac7,500<\/strong> (\u20ac6,900 for living expenses + \u20ac600 for additional costs);<\/li>\n
The account must be in the applicant\u2019s name, or supported by a signed declaration from parents\/guardians<\/strong> if financially dependent. In this case, you must provide your parent or guardian\u2019s bank statements<\/strong> along with a copy of their ID showing a visible signature.<\/li>\n
Additional financial proof (scholarship, sponsorship, etc.) may also be submitted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
Visa fee: \u20ac50<\/strong>, payable in cash only<\/strong> at the time of submission (exact amount required; no change may be available).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
For Internship Applicants (Curricular or Extracurricular)<\/strong><\/p>\n
In addition to the above, internship applicants must provide:<\/p>\n
\n
A letter from the university\/training institution detailing the purpose, duration, and content<\/strong> of the internship;<\/li>\n
Internship agreement between the sending institution, host organization, and student, specifying:\n
\n
Training objectives, supervision methods, logistical support (board\/lodging\/travel), and insurance coverage;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
For extracurricular internships: a training project approved by the competent Regional\/Provincial authority<\/strong> (if applicable).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Additional Documents (If Currently Studying in Latvia)<\/strong><\/p>\n
If you are studying in Latvia, please also include:<\/p>\n
\n
Name of your Latvian university\/institution;<\/li>\n
Official contact details (email and phone number);<\/li>\n
Student ID (if available);<\/li>\n
Student registration number;<\/li>\n
Certificate or diploma issued by the institution or latest academic transcript;<\/li>\n
Other relevant information regarding your academic status or legal residence (e.g. recent proof of address in Latvia<\/strong> such as utility bills, pay slips, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Processing Time and Important Notes<\/strong><\/p>\n
\n
Visa issuance may take up to 90 days<\/strong> due to necessary background checks.<\/li>\n
Submitting a visa application does not guarantee<\/strong> that a visa will be issued.<\/li>\n
Do not send documents by email<\/strong> unless specifically requested. Applications are assessed only after<\/strong> official submission at the Embassy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
The consular section may request additional documents and\/or a personal interview<\/strong>.
