Relations between our two Countries have been historically intense<\/strong> since Latvia regained its independence in 1991, but – as noted by the Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni<\/strong> during her visit in Riga on 10 July 2023 – the relationship between Rome and Riga is now experiencing an extremely positive phase<\/strong>. From political affairs to security, from culture to the economy, from research to innovation – in every area, **the dialogue between Italy and Latvia is growing<\/strong> and is heading in the direction of greater exchange, interaction and growth.<\/p>\n**

From the political point of view, Riga and Rome are aligned on many fronts, first of all our shared support to Ukraine<\/strong> against the unjustified and illegal aggression by the Russian Federation. The daily activity of the 260 Italian soldiers deployed in Latvia<\/strong> within the enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group \u201cLatvia\u201d of NATO is the most significant evidence of the closeness between our two countries.<\/p>\n
