This line is active <strong>outside the regular opening hours of the offices<\/strong>, as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Monday to Thursday<\/strong>: from 18:00 to 22:00<\/li>\n<li><strong>Friday<\/strong>: from 16:00 to 22:00<\/li>\n<li><strong>Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays<\/strong>: from 09:00 to 22:00<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Emergency number<\/strong>: +371 29273027<\/p>\n<p>For the purposes of this service, an <strong>emergency<\/strong> is defined as a serious incident involving an imminent threat to the health or personal safety of an Italian citizen in Latvia, which requires <strong>urgent consular intervention<\/strong> (e.g. accidents, arrests, serious medical conditions).<\/p>\n<p>If the matter <strong>does not qualify as an emergency<\/strong>, you are kindly requested to refer to the contact details of our offices, available <a href=\"https:\/\/ambriga.esteri.it\/it\/chi-siamo\/gli-uffici\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In case of <strong>night-time emergencies<\/strong> outside the hours of operation of the Embassy&#8217;s emergency phone (from 22:00 to 09:00), it is possible to contact the <strong>Duty Officer<\/strong> of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Rome at the following numbers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>+39 06 3691 2666<\/li>\n<li>+39 06 3691 2907<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Only in cases of severe crises<\/strong>\u2014such as international terrorism, socio-political unrest, natural disasters, pandemics, or other major health emergencies\u2014may the <strong>Crisis Unit<\/strong> be contacted at:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Telephone: +39 06 36225<\/li>\n<li>Email: <a href=\"mailto:unita.crisi@esteri.it\">unita.crisi@esteri.it<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>OFFICE OPENING HOURS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The consular offices are open to the public at the following times:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Monday<\/strong>: 09:30 \u2013 12:30<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tuesday<\/strong>: 14:30 \u2013 17:00<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wednesday<\/strong>: 09:30 \u2013 12:30<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thursday<\/strong>: 14:30 \u2013 17:00<\/li>\n<li><strong>Friday<\/strong>: 09:30 \u2013 12:30<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>WHAT TO DO IN CASE OF THEFT OR LOSS OF AN IDENTITY DOCUMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the event of the <strong>theft or loss of an identity document<\/strong>, a report must be filed <strong>immediately with the local Police Authorities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>If the person concerned is an <strong>Italian citizen not residing in Latvia<\/strong> and is in an emergency situation due to the theft or loss of an identity document, the <strong>Embassy of Italy in Riga<\/strong> may issue an <strong>Emergency Travel Document (ETD)<\/strong> to allow return to Italy or to the country of permanent residence. For complete information on how to obtain an ETD, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.esteri.it\/it\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/italiani-all-estero\/documenti_di_viaggio\/etd\/\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Please be advised that the <strong>ETD can only be issued during office hours<\/strong>. If the theft or loss occurs during the weekend, the document can only be issued <strong>starting from the following Monday<\/strong>. In such cases, it is essential to present the <strong>police report<\/strong> confirming the theft or loss of the passport or identity card, issued by the Latvian authorities. <strong>No appointment is required.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It should also be noted that <strong>some airlines<\/strong> may allow boarding for return to Italy or to the country of residence upon presentation of the police report alone.
