G7 Summit (Taormina, 26-27 May 2017) – Temporary border controls reactivation

On the occasion of the G7 Summit in Taormina (26-27 May 2017) controls at the internal borders of the Schengen Area will be temporarily reactivated at the Italian terrestrial, aerial and maritime borders.

The suspension of the ordinary regime of freedom of movement within the Schengen Area will be applied according to Art. 25 of Schengen Borders Code (Regulation (EU) 2016/399).

The reactivation of border controls will take place from May 10th, 2017 to May 30th, 2017.

Border controls may have a significant impact on travel times for non-E.U. nationals who will travel to Italy through another Schengen State.
No entry stamp will be affixed to the documents of non EU-nationals who will travel to Italy through another Schengen State if they hold a valid single-entry Schengen visa (even with an entry stamp already placed at the time of entry into the Schengen area).
