The political cooperation between Italy and Latvia has been fruitful since the renewed indipendence of Latvia in 1991.
Even if the number of bilateral visit has been reduced in the recent two years, the cooperation has been particurarly intense during the presidencies of the European Union since Latvia's presidency follows the Italian one.
During those occasions, experience and know-how were exchanged.
