History and architecture

The Art Nouveau building in Teātra iela 9 was built in 1903 by the architects H. Šēls and F. Šēls. In the decoration of the facade it is possible to see elements of the Art Nouveau mixed with baroque elements.

The statues adorning the builfing are mythological figures, Atena and Hermes. On top of the palace, three figures representing Atlante hold on their shoulders the globe of the Earth made with glass and zinc and illuminated during the night.
